July 22, 2025 – Sagepoint Energy, LLC (“Sagepoint” or the “Company”), a leading provider of waste-to-energy solutions, announced today the closing of another strategic acquisition – Peoples LFG, LLC (“Peoples”) – which currently operates as a landfill gas-to-electricity plant. The acquisition aims to strengthen Sagepoint’s landfill renewable natural gas (“RNG”) market position and further scale and diversify its portfolio.
Sagepoint Energy Expands Landfill RNG Operations
Peoples, located in Birch Run, Michigan, was recently acquired from North American Power Systems, LLC. and has been in operation for over 20 years. The facility currently operates as a landfill gas-to-electricity plant, with a generating capacity of 4.8 MW. Over the next year, Sagepoint plans to invest in the development and construction of a landfill gas-to-RNG facility, with construction set to commence in 2025. Commercial operations are anticipated to begin in 2026.
“The acquisition of Peoples is a strategic advancement in expanding and strengthening our RNG portfolio,” said Aaron Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of Sagepoint Energy. “By converting this landfill gas-to-electricity plant into an RNG facility, we are enhancing our operational capabilities and driving increased renewable natural gas production.”
“We are excited to partner with Sagepoint Energy on this project,” said Brian Evans, Chief Executive Officer of North American Power Systems. “This collaboration allows us to participate in the growing renewable natural gas market and contribute to a more sustainable future.”
