New Date for Southface Institute’s 2020 Greenprints Conference
In light of coronavirus concerns, conference to better serve attendees, speakers and sponsors in June
Atlanta, GA – March 10, 2020 – Southface Institute is rescheduling its Greenprints Conference, the Southeast’s most respected and thought-provoking forum on sustainability to June 3 – 4 at Georgia State University. Architects, engineers, building professionals and members of the policy and education fields can register now to earn CEUs, learn about the latest developments in urban sustainability and join panel discussions on how regenerative policies and practices can be implemented across every scale of development to improve a healthier built environment for all.
“With respect for all those participating in this important conference and conversation, we are mindful of coronavirus concerns and current travel restrictions, and we are committed to ensuring a positive experience for all. This led us to reschedule Greenprints 2020 for early June,” said Southface Institute President Andrea Pinabell.
The event will proceed as originally planned, with a focus on aspects of building a regenerative economy across the different parts of our community, with a special focus on the Southeast.
Special Features for 2020
Four Unique Tracks: Day One will feature panels on topics related to homes, workplaces, communities, and a dedicated technical track with Southface experts on high-performance buildings. Panelists will address questions like:
How do we ensure resilience in the face of climate change and a growing population?
Is development possible with displacement?
Are our work environments making us sick?
How can we meet and exceed the 2020 Georgia energy code updates?
Cleantech Open: Southface has partnered with Cleantech Open, the world’s largest clean-tech accelerator, providing entrepreneurs and corporate innovators the resources they need to launch and grow successful clean-tech businesses. Attendees will hear from some of the Southeast’s best and brightest local talent speak about their innovative green tech to improve sustainability in the region.
Carbon Reduction and Climate in Georgia: Day Two will offer a deeper dive into Georgia Drawdown, which works to identify the most promising solutions for achieving carbon neutrality in the state. Speakers from Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University will give an overview and guide sessions that discuss opportunities to reduce and reverse carbon emissions in areas like building materials, electricity generation, food systems and transportation.
“With more than 40% of the world’s carbon emissions coming from commercial buildings and 70% of greenhouse gas emissions coming from cities, the opportunities to make a difference are huge,” said Pinabell. “Whatever level you’re at—entry, professional or expert—Greenprints is the place to meet industry trendsetters and explore ways you and your organization can benefit from regenerative practices in 2020 and beyond.”
Keynote Speakers
Day One: K.P. Reddy is a serial entrepreneur with over 25 years of experience in disruptive innovations. As the founder of Shadow Ventures, a seed-stage tech investment firm, Reddy effortlessly combines expertise in advanced technologies with critical, in-the-trenches experience as an entrepreneur. Day Two: John Lanier is the Executive Director of the Ray C. Anderson Foundation and a Southface Institute Board Member. The Ray C. Anderson Foundation seeks to promote a sustainable society by supporting and pioneering initiatives that harmonize society, business and the environment for the present generation and tomorrow’s child.
