Dive Insight:
Waste Pro was ranked 13th on the 2015 Waste 100 list based on its 2014 revenue of $509 million, and the company has taken steps to ensure that it continues thriving. In April, Waste Pro spent $3 million to install video cameras in its waste and recycling vehicles, and it completed a $579 million recapitalization of the company last October.
"We executed a business transaction that creates the platform to launch our next decade of growth," said John Jennings, the chairman and CEO of Waste Pro at the time.
Regardless, the company is involved in a dispute regarding missed collection complaints. Customers from Buncombe County, NC have reported poor service and they wish to end their contract with Waste Pro. A committee is set to review Waste Pro's service within the next month and if commissioners decide to terminate, Waste Pro can pursue legal action. The next meeting for commissioners is scheduled for Aug. 4.
