Waste Connections recently purchased Diversified Waste Management, a local hauler based in Amarillo, Texas.
DWM, founded in 2010, offers a range of container rental and roll-off collection services. According to the company’s website, its residential service is focused on “Amarillo, Bushland, Canyon and surrounding areas” within the Texas Panhandle region. Federal records indicate the company had 16 vehicles and 19 drivers as of February.
The news was first reported by The Clarendon Enterprise, without a specific transaction date. A message on the company’s customer service line recently advised that “if you are calling in regards to dumpsters and solid waste, please hang up and dial Waste Connections.”
According to the Enterprise, DWM took over collection in Clarendon after the small city privatized service in 2020. The Clarendon City Council recently discussed plans to update its franchise and service agreements with the company as a result of the sale.
Waste Connections has an existing hauling operation in Amarillo, along with numerous other locations in neighboring regions of Oklahoma and New Mexico as well as throughout much of Texas.
The Texas-based company reported spending nearly $145 million on acquisitions in the first quarter and CEO Ron Mittelstaedt previewed another “above average year of deal activity” during an April earnings call. Last year, in a larger deal, Waste Connections also purchased Houston-based Lone Star Disposal.
