- Scott W. Whitney recently was named CEO of Liberty Tire Recycling, based in Pittsburgh, PA, effectively in the top spot June 1. Whitney will take the post following the tenure of CEO Bill Fry.
- The new CEO brings decades of industry experience to his job. Before being named CEO of Liberty Tire Recycling, Whitney was CEO of Greenwood Fuels from 2012 to 2015. From 1987 to 2012, he worked in various positions for Covanta Energy.
- Liberty Tire Recycling recently restructured and was recapitalized with the help of Third Avenue Management LLC, Knighthead Capital Management, and other firms. Fry oversaw the restructuring, which finished in March.

In tapping Whitney as its new CEO, Liberty is employing an old hand in the industry.
"[Whitney] possesses extensive industrial experience and a track record of success in renewable and alternative energy and environmental remediation," Nils Larsen, chairman of Liberty Tire Recycling’s board of directors, said in a news release.
