The U.S. waste and recycling industry's largest public companies recently reported second-quarter earnings results and showed numerous signs of upward trajectory. One full year after experiencing the pandemic's worst financial effects, every company reported strong trends in volume recovery, pricing and expected full-year earnings for 2021. In addition to showing a general rebound in commercial activity for certain sectors, company results were also boosted by strong recycling commodity values and ongoing M&A activity.
