Dive Insight:
In May 2013, Progressive Waste launched a corporate initiative focused on sustainability. One aspect of the campaign includes converting its fleet from diesel trucks into alternative fuel vehicles. In a little over a year, the hauler added almost 250 CNG trucks to its fleet, bringing the total number of CNG vehicles to 400, spanning 11 markets across the country.
Republic said that it acquires between 300 to 400 trucks annually, for the regular replacement of its fleet. An estimated 55% of the fleet replaced in North America will be CNG.
