• Delaware Electric Cooperative announced the opening of a gas-to-electricity plant in Sandtown, DE. The facility collects methane from the Delaware Solid Waste Authority’s landfill.
• The DEC inked a power purchase agreement with Ameresco, a renewable energy company, to provide electricity to power 1,200 homes.
• Although this is the first time the DEC has acquired energy from a landfill, president and CEO Bill Andrew says the co-op is looking into establishing partnerships with more landfills in the future.
