- Honolulu-based Pelatron Q is working with private waste haulers and landowners in Kauai, HI to secure a municipal solid waste stream and develop a 2.4-megawatt waste-to-energy plant.
- President and CEO Kekoa McClellan told Pacific Business News that the company plans to reduce the amount of trash being dumped in the Kekaha Landfill by up to 50%. "We are in various stages of negotiations with feedstock providers and negotiating our lease agreements in West Kauai," he said. "Once those are complete, we will take our case to [the Kauai Island Utility Cooperative]."
- Pelatron Q is a joint venture between Solena Q and Pelatron Power Evolution, formed to develop clean energy projects in Hawaii for government and commercial organizations.

The practice of tapping landfill waste for energy is spreading throughout the industry, causing companies across the country to build their own WTE plants. The operation of such plants allow companies to decrease their environmental footprint while creating reusable fuel that can be sold for profit.
Pelatron Q uses "Solena plasma gasification and vitrification" technology, which generates synthetic gas that can be used to generate electricity and/or biofuels, according to its website.
