• The 2008 incident occurred in Deptford, New Jersey, as the woman was walking by a recycling truck that was collecting curbside recyclables. The driver was operating the mechanical arm of the truck, when the arm picked up the bin, a trash container became stuck and then flew over the truck, hitting the woman.
• Republic Services, the defendant in this case, argued that the woman fabricated the incident.
