• The plant will harness methane from Republic Services' landfill and transform it into power for approximately 9,000 residents in Illinois and Indiana.

270 collection points capture the gas from the 320 acres of the landfill, with an additional 140 acres of undeveloped land that can be used in the future. The facility is expected to be in operation for the next 30 years.
