- Austin, TX-based Inland Waste Solutions has purchased some commercial assets from Waste Management’s Deffenbaugh Disposal subsidiary in the markets of Bethel Heights and Fort Smith, AR, and Topeka, KS.
- Houston-based Waste Management completed its purchase of Kansas City, KS-based Deffenbaugh in March. The U.S. Justice Department required that the two companies divest some small container commercial waste routes.
- Inland has expanded to provide residential, commercial, and industrial collection in markets of seven states.

Just like Waste Management, and many other companies in the industry, Inland Waste Solutions is on a growing path, having doubled in size to expand operations.
"The acquisition of the Deffenbaugh divestiture assets aligns perfectly with our growth plan and builds tremendous value for Inland," said Inland CEO Bart Begley in a news release. "It also increases our route density and allows for the company to realize synergistic cost savings."
