Dive Brief:
- The Georgia Supreme Court on Monday heard a county sanitation contract dispute between Advanced Disposal and Deep South Sanitation.
- The dispute between the two haulers is a battle for business: Advanced is attempting to maintain its exclusive contract with Lowndes County, GA, while forcing Deep South Sanitation out, reports WALB.
- The issues began in February of 2014 when the county sued Deep South for collecting waste after the county commission contracted with Advanced. A judge previously ruled Deep South could continue to operate, prompting Advanced to try to have the decision reversed.
Dive Insight:
Deep South continues to operate in the county, but a decision against them will put the company out of business. According to Deep South's attorney Rob Plumb, it is unlikely a ruling will be made until the end of this year.
