Dive Brief:

• Green3Power Operations, Inc. has received a contract to build a $175 million waste-to-energy plant that will convert solid waste into diesel fuel. The plant will be built with the help of Vanderweil Engineers at the St. Lucie County Solid Waste Management Facility in Fort Pierce, FL.
• The plant will be located at the Glades Road Landfill, pending approval by County Commissioners of an agreement with the energy company to build the plant. That approval is expected to come at a July 21 commissioners’ meeting.
• With the building of the new WTE plant, waste will be used to create fuel through the company's gasification process and the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis process.
