- Detroit Renewable Energy LLC, a conglomerate of renewable energy generation and distribution companies, has partnered with general Motors Corp. on a project which will transform municipal solid waste into steam.
- The process steam will be used to heat and cool areas of General Motor's Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant.
- 15.8 megawatts of renewable energy will be created at the facility, and accounts for approximately 12% of GM's goal of achieving 125 megawatts of renewable energy into its portfolios by 2020.
