Dive Insight:
Dynamic and Minnesota Computers join under one company at a challenging, yet potentially lucrative time in the electronic recycling niche.
Worldwide, the industry is dealing with plummeting values, shrinking metal content in electronic devices, and higher collection and processing costs. Metal content has fallen by more than 50% for some types of computers and other IT equipment, according to Stefan Georg Fuchs of copper recycling major Aurubis.
But the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries says, in the past 10 years, electronic recycling has funneled $20.6 billion into the U.S. economy.
Dynamic Recycling President Curt Greeno is optimistic of what the company’s newest strategic move will mean in dollars for the company and customers. "We're very excited to be adding Minnesota Computers to our corporate portfolio. The acquisition will offer another channel to extract the best value for our customer's IT equipment," he said in a press release.
