Dive Brief:

• Clean Energy Fuels sold its majority interest in a biomethane production plant to Cambrian Energy Development LLC.
• The deal was worth an estimated $40.6 million, plus $3 million in compensation for Clean Energy Fuels, a producer of natural gas fuel based in Newport Beach, CA. 
• According to the terms of the agreement, Clean Energy will retain the right to market and sell biomethane produced at the McCommas Bluff facility in Dallas, TX using its Redeem renewable natural gas brand.

Dive Insight:

Clean Energy and Cambrian Energy had established a partnership as early as August of 2008. The former company said it will now shift its focus toward marketing and selling alternative fuels.
