• Cirque Energy Inc., headquartered in Detroit, MI, announced a deal to build a biomass gasification plant in Midland, TX.
• Cirque Energy will collaborate with ReCom Operating Partners, a local wood-waste recycling company, to build the Midland Biomass Energy Station. Cirque will develop the facility and operate and oversee the plant.
• The company anticipates the plant will be open by the end of the first quarter of 2015.

Dive Insight:

Renewable energy generated by the plant will be sold to the utility market via a power-purchase agreement that spans many years. In addition, Cirque struck a deal with Northrop Grumman Corp. to create a portable gasification unit that is able to convert solid waste to produce fuel. The unit can also supplement standard fuels used to create heat and power.
