Name: Jeff Fielkow
Previous title: President and CEO of ID Images
New title: CEO of Circular Action Alliance
Fielkow will become CAA’s first-ever CEO when he steps into the role on August 20. CAA is involved in building program plans in extended producer responsibility for packaging programs in Colorado, California and Oregon.
“Over the course of my career I have developed a deep passion for sustainability and recycling to better understand how packaging circularity can be advanced through collaboration across the value chain,” Fielkow said in a statement. “This journey has brought me to CAA, an organization that has incredible potential to transform how packaging is managed in the United States, and I am committed to ensuring that we get EPR implementation right.”
Fielkow has more than three decades of business and leadership experience, with notable roles in the packaging and recycling industries, CAA said in their announcement
Prior to his role as president and CEO of ID Images, which makes converted label products, he was CEO for Tetra Pak’s U.S. and Canada division. He has also served as Tetra Pak’s CEO for Vietnam and vice president of sustainability for Southeast Asia and Oceania.
Fielkow also has 15 years of experience in other operations and leadership roles in the recycling and sustainability sector, including at WM, ReCommunity and Container Recycling Alliance.
He has served on boards of public and private companies. Currently, he is board director of TriMas Corp. and has had previous roles at WasteCap Resource Solutions and the U.S. Carton Council, CAA says.
Fielkow’s involvement leading or founding numerous packaging recovery organizations throughout North America and Asia, as well as his experience advising government entities on recycling strategies, makes him the right fit for the CEO role, CAA said in its announcement.
“Jeff is a well-respected and experienced leader, with a proven record of driving successful packaging recovery initiatives for both private and public organizations around the world,” said Charlie Schwarze, CAA board chair and senior director of sustainability at Keurig Dr Pepper, in a statement.
CAA, which formed in 2022, has appointed several new leaders recently as it works to help Colorado and California implement new EPR for packaging laws. The producer responsibility organization has also submitted an initial program plan in Oregon, and the PRO serves in an advisory role in Maryland, which is working on an EPR needs assessment.
CAA announced in June that it had appointed Juri Freeman as its new executive director for Colorado. In July, it announced Kim Holmes as the executive director for Oregon.
