Waste Harmonics and Keter Environmental Services, two companies that combined last year, announced waste industry veteran Bob Boucher will become their new CEO effective next week.
“Keter and Waste Harmonics have long been leading players in the waste management space and the growth opportunities ahead for the combined company are impressive,” Boucher said in a statement. “The Company’s innovative and transformative approach to waste is driving better customer experiences, improved efficiency, and greater recycling and diversion.”
Waste Harmonics + Keter is a third-party waste and recycling service provider and technology-focused waste broker. The companies’ founders each praised Boucher's experience in statements announcing the change.
“Bob is a veteran of our industry, and we are pleased to welcome a CEO of his caliber at an exciting time for the combined company,” Waste Harmonics Founder Mike Hess said. “His significant experience leading teams, transformations, integrations, and business development for global waste management, environmental services, and energy companies makes him an excellent fit to take us to the next level."
At Waste Harmonics + Keter, Boucher will lead a broker in growth mode. TPG Growth, an equity platform of global asset manager TPG, acquired Keter in 2021 and went on to close a series of acquisitions to enhance the waste and recycling service provider.
Waste Harmonics has been on a similar growth path since Arcapita acquired the New York-based company in 2019. The company quadrupled in size following the Arcapita investment, Hess told Waste Dive last year. In 2023, Arcapita sold its stake in Waste Harmonics to TPG, facilitating the combination of the two companies that closed in October. At the time, Arcapita said Waste Harmonics’ revenue was approaching $400 million.
Following Boucher's appointment, both Hess and Steven Schlussel, founder of Connecticut-based Keter, will remain on the combined company's board.
"Under Bob’s leadership, we are well positioned to build on our momentum and strengthen our position as one of the largest waste management services providers in the U.S.," Schlussel said in a statement.
Boucher was most recently president and CEO of WIN Waste Innovations before stepping back in July 2023. He led the company through a major transformation, serving as CEO of Wheelabrator beginning in 2015 and staying on as Macquarie acquired the company and merged it with others to form WIN.
Prior to that role, Boucher was CEO at Transpacific and held leadership roles at Republic Services and Synagro Technologies, in addition to roles at WM and American Waste Systems.
