In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Bluesphere CEO Shlomi Palas said, "[A] large number of the landfills in the U.S., particularly in the southeastern region, are not productively using methane gas emitted form landfills. These landfills are the oil fields of the future.”
Bluesphere’s intent to partner with landfills comes as the White House calls for a reduction of methane gas emissions as part of its latest climate change mitigation efforts. The Landfill Methane Outreach Program, an EPA initiative, is one project promoting landfill methane-to-energy conversions that is already in place.
