- JBC Group, an Elyria, OH-based company created by the Cromling family, bought High Point, NC-based A&D Environmental Services. Terms of the sale were not released.

At a time when waste haulers are merging more often due to the pinch of low commodity prices and other factors, the JBC-A&D Environmental Services merger is the latest case of a more profitable firm buying another firm. While more mergers ultimately could mean less competition in waste and recycling, it also could help stabilize the market and bring an upgrade in services offered.
