- On April 29, a new waste-to-energy facility will open at the Fort Hall Mine landfill in Pocatello, ID.
- The project cost $4.5 million to construct and began operations on April 14, 2014, according to a press release issued by the Bannock County Solid Waste Department.
- The landfill will convert the trash into energy, and sell it to Idaho Power. The electricity produced will be capable of powering 700 households within one year and 1,800 homes in the next five, according to the release.

The Idaho State Journal reports that the facility is expected to be paid in full within six to 10 years. As analysts predict WTE facilities are the wave of the future, many more similar plants may begin breaking ground across the U.S. The market is expected to reach $28.6 billion in revenue by 2016.
